Settlement arrived at in motor tanker collision claim

On the 20th August, 2021, the barge “Caribbean Pride” of the Port of Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines (“Barge Caribbean Pride”), while under tow by the Motor Tug “Storm” of the Port of Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines (“Tug Storm”), struck the Motor Tanker “Green Pioneer” of Panama (“Green Pioneer”) while at anchorage in the territorial waters of Trinidad and Tobago.

By claim instituted on the 18th August, 2023, Octagon Navigation Inc. of Liberia and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd of Japan (“Claimants”), these Claimants sought damages as against Borinken Towage & Salvage LLC of Puerto Rico as owner of the Barge Caribbean Pride and Tug Storm (“Defendant”).

After discussions between the parties, the Defendant’s insurers settled the sums claimed by the Claimants, thus bringing an end to the proceedings.
